Data plays an increasingly important role in the translation of research into impact. Data sharing, sovereignty, security and privacy are all key concerns for countries and individuals across the globe. Given the complex data sets, storage considerations, technological requirements, the need to increase industry partnerships, and the collaborative nature of research, this topic has particular significance for research management. To ensure the proper management and security of their data, organisations must comply with complex legislation and institutional requirements. The panel will explore the importance of data in the grant application and research translation process, the growing requirement to share and integrate data as well as current issues, requirements, compliance practices, and the significance for Indigenous communities.
